Our Story

A story still in the (m/b)aking.

When David and Katie first met, David always said he wasn’t a baker. But every evening, he found his way into the kitchen, cooking restaurant-worthy meals for our family. Over time, that quiet love for good food naturally turned into baking. Before long, “I’m not a baker” turned into “I can make that,” whether it was sourdough, specialty cookies, crème brûlée, or whatever treat Katie or Brynlee happened to mention looked good.

Then came the cinnamon rolls. Soft, rich, and packed with flavor, they quickly became everyone’s favorite. We started getting texts asking when we’d have more, and before long, people were all saying the same thing — you should sell these.

After some unexpected career changes, we thought a lot about what might be next. In early 2025, David brought up something we had been hearing from friends and family for a while — maybe we should start selling some of the food he loves to make. The idea clicked, and we got to work so we’d be ready for the 2025 market season. Along with baking, David is balancing writing his PhD dissertation in history, and that, along with Katie’s love of a good pun, is how History in the Baking started. We’re excited to see where it takes us.

Everything we make is handcrafted in small batches using quality ingredients and thoughtful methods. From sourdough to cookies, it all started in our family kitchen with recipes we love, and we’re thrilled to share them with you.

Thanks for being a piece of our history,
